Yb doped MgO transparent ceramics generated through the SPS method

Yb doped (0, 0.02, 0.1 and 0.5 at%) MgO transparent ceramics were synthesized through spark plasma sintering (SPS) at the relatively low temperature of 1100 °C for 5–60 min under a pressure 105 MPa. The effects dopant concentration holding time on densification microstructure evolution investigated.
